If it doesn’t click,
change the approach.
Sometimes a smaller step helps. Sometimes a picture does. The first explanation doesn’t have to be the last.
AN EXAMPLE, NOT A PROMISE OF ACCURACY
After trying substitution, ask for an elimination approach. Pin the methods you tried so you can return to them after a long conversation.
Name what isn’t helping
Tell the tutor whether you need simpler language, a visual, an analogy, or a different mathematical method. The recent conversation and your memory pins stay in context.
Connect methods to the same problem
The workspace gives both approaches a common point of reference. Keep your first attempt visible while trying a second method, or use scratch paper to compare them.
No promise of a perfect explanation
AI reasoning can be mistaken. A different explanation should be checked against the assignment and your own understanding. If a step seems wrong, challenge it directly.
